As of 12 August 2026, PPWR for seafood buyers is no longer a future consideration. The EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR, Regulation (EU) 2025/40) is now applying across the European Union, bringing new requirements around packaging sustainability, recyclability, waste prevention and information. PPWR replaces the previous Packaging and Packaging Waste Directive (94/62/EC) and introduces a more harmonised framework for packaging across the EU.
