Barramundi and Seabass are the premium farm fish in the world.
Seabass, Lates calcarifer, is an economically important food fish in tropical countries. It is a species with catadromous habits within its areas of distribution.
Barramundi, also known as Asian Seabass, is a catadromous fish species in the family: Latidae of the order Perciformes. This species is widely distributed in the Indo-West Pacific region from South Asia to Papua New Guinea and Northern Australia. The main areas for farming Barramundi and seabass are in Guangdong and Fujian Province in China.
The name barramundi is Aboriginal for “large-scaled silverfish.” This fish has a nickname as the “sustainable seabass.” It is popular in Asia, the USA, the Middle East, and the U.K. because of its low toxin levels, mild flavor, and high heart and brain-healthy omega-3.
Barramundi and seabass are famous as white-fleshed fish as an alternative to salmon fish. It’s a high-value product that Ocean Treasure exports mainly to the Middle East and Southeast Asia countries.
Seabass can thrive on a vegetarian diet and better convert grains into fish protein than almost any other fishes. These unique fish spawn in the ocean and mature in freshwater, endowing them with the ability to produce high levels of omega 3’s. They are naturally disease resistant and can thrive in aquaculture environments as well.
A 5-ounce portion for barramundi and seabass has about 140 calories, 2 grams of total fat, and 600 to 800 milligrams of heart and brain-healthy omega-3 fats. It’s still an excellent source for omega-3 fats, especially as some other white fish, like cod, pangasius, and tilapia.
Like other fish, it is also a good protein source and contains nutrients like vitamin D and potassium. The fish are raised without hormones, colorants, or antibiotics and have no detectable mercury, PCBs, or other contaminants. Testing has shown.

Barramundi and seabass need less than one pound of feed (mostly vegetarian) to produce a pound of flesh. That is why it’s so popular farmed in China and other countries. Every year, there are 100000-120000 tons of seabass and barramundi farmed and processed in China. Ocean Treasure can provide our clients with high-quality barramundi and seabass as required.
